The Interreg Italy–Croatia ALIENA project is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the ALIENA Summer School on Non-Indigenous Species (NIS) Monitoring and Forecasting in the Adriatic Sea, taking place in Rovinj, Croatia, from 13 to 16 April 2026, hosted by the Ruđer Bošković Institute – Center for Marine Research.

The four-day programme offers 30 hours of intensive training combining theoretical sessions, field sampling activities, laboratory work, and modelling exercises using Copernicus data and agent-based models. Participants will also engage with citizen science tools and science communication, and will visit a protected marine area.

The Summer School targets PhD and Master’s students, early-career researchers, environmental agency technicians, and professionals active in marine monitoring, biodiversity, fisheries, or aquaculture. Participation is free of charge: accommodation and meals are fully covered by the organisation.

Applications must be submitted by 15 March 2026 to dmaric@irb.hr, including a CV (max. 2 pages), a short motivation letter (max. 500 words), and an indication of current affiliation. A certificate of participation will be awarded upon completion.
